Just when residents figured a six year saga concerning safety fears for a busy Barna road was coming to some conclusion, all has been thrown into confusion.

Galway City Council has secured funding of up to €30 million under the Government’s Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund (HIIF), supporting key infrastructure projects that could unlock land for up to 12,877 homes across the city.

Across Galway, 7,200 houses and apartments will be directly serviced by these projects, with potential for a further 9,700 homes – mostly in the city. These locations were applied for by Galway’s city and county councils.
