Parke Arts and Drama group are back on stage

Parke Arts and Drama presents The Maiden Aunt, a hilarious three act comedy written by Jimmy Keary and directed by Michael Rice. The Maiden Aunt tells the story of Dan and Mary Murphy as they play host to Mary's elderly aunt, the formidable Gertie O'Grady who is convalescing after a spell in hospital. With high hopes of getting into Aunt Gertie's will Dan and Mary find they have their work cut out for them and when Gertie apparently ‘dies’ Dan comes up with an elaborate plan to get their hands on her money. Meanwhile Dan and Mary's son John Paul, an aspiring musician, is busy planning on hitting the big time.

Parke Arts and Drama group gear up for the future

Following on from their recent run at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar of their production of Jimmy Keary’s, Fortunes and Misfortunes - Parke Arts and Drama Group are looking towards their next big project. The group will get things moving when they hold their AGM, next Thursday night at 9pm in the Parke Community Centre at 9pm. At the meeting consideration will be given to their next production and the charity they will be supporting from it.

Parke Arts and Drama Group supporting Mayo Autism Action

The Parke Arts and Drama Group is once again supporting a local charity this year and the group has donated €500 to the very worthy Mayo Autism Action whose goal is to support children and their families who are affected by autism. The flagship project is the Áthas School in Kiltimagh which caters for children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. On hand to accept the cheque on behalf of Mayo Autism Action was Pat Kearns who thanked all those involved with Parke Arts and Drama, and thanked them for their generous donation which will go towards helping with the running of the school. The Parke Arts and Drama Group has donated more than €3,500 over the last three years to worthwhile charities such as Enable Ireland, Western Alzheimers, Hospice Uganda, Tsunami Appeal, and other local charities.
