The first day of the Connacht Clubs Cross Country Championships were held last Sunday last in Enniscrone, Co Sligo, in muddy and testing conditions. The Even Ages Juvenile races for U10 to U18 were held, along with Day two of the Connacht Senior League.

The Craughwell Senior Women’s team had another outstanding day at Round 2 of the National League held in Athlone Indoor Arena. Managed by Sarah Finnegan, the team put in some top-drawer performances across the range of events to qualify for the final in second place on the leader board, just one point off table toppers DSD AC.

Eleven-year-old Holly Shaughnessy from Crumlin National School, Ballyglunin, Tuam, was named winner of the Galway County Spelling Bee when came out on top against 41 other spelling enthusiasts at the county championships this week.
