O’Donnellan & Joyce auctioneers, Ireland’s largest independent auction house, hosted its first live property auction following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions on Friday last, July 3. The auction was set to take place behind closed doors with phone, internet, and proxy bidders initially invited to participate; however the plans changed and the live auction went ahead thanks to the accelerated Government roadmap which allowed for a large public gathering to take place while adhering to social distancing measures.

O’Donnellan & Joyce will hold nationwide property auctions in Galway city on July 3 and 24. The auctions will be held remotely and interested parties can register to bid by telephone and online. As there will be no live audience, other than those conducting the phone and internet bidding on behalf of intending purchasers, the auction can be watched live online.

With the extension of the Covid-19 restrictions, O’Donnellan & Joyce auctioneers is offering advice to property owners who may have thought of selling their property before the pandemic unfolded. “Anyone who has been through the selling process previously, probably has a good idea of the usual jobs that should be done to increase the kerb appeal of their property,” notes auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan. For those who have not been through the experience before, he added, “some very simple tasks can be undertaken to spruce up a property prior to selling.”
