A volunteer from Oranmore is among a group of 35 who will travelling to Haiti this weekend. Haven, a prominent Irish NGO working on the ground in Haiti, is undertaking its 11th annual volunteer trip to Haiti from April 21 to 29.

The Westport Sea2Summit – one of the country’s largest adventure races taking place on Saturday November 12 – has just announced the Gena Heraty Haiti Fund as its official charity partner for this year’s event. A percentage of each entry fee will be donated directly to the voluntary organisation, which is battling tirelessly to save the lives of the some of the country’s poorest people.

Irish NGO Haven, and George Hook, will visit Galway tomorrow (Friday) in an effort to recruit volunteers for the organisation’s Build It Week in Haiti. This will be the last time the event takes place in its current format.
