The Connacht Primary Schools Cross Country Finals were held on Saturday, October 18 at Bushfield in Loughrea across four races. There were close to 600 athletes competing from across the province and there were some notable Galway medallists in the course of events.

Ultimately shaking off a strong Ennis Track challenge, Edris was a decisive winner of the men’s race over 8,000m, with the Galway athlete crossing the line in a time of 26:16.

Athletics Ireland has announced a strong team for next month’s European Athletics Championships. The event will be held in Rome between June 7 to 12, and will include one Galway athlete.
