Galway Sea Scouts represent Ireland at Dutch National Sea Scout Festival

Like ‘Disneyland for Sea Scouts’ is how one of our Sea Scouts described Nawaka, the National Water Camp they attended in Zeewolde, Netherlands. Held every running years and running for 10 days, the Sea Scout festival is one of the largest of its kind and this year, Port of Galway Sea Scouts returned with 27 scouts and eight leaders to represent Ireland at the event.

Loveen travels over land & sea to meet up with 7,000 scouts in the Netherlands.

A boat’s natural home is on the water but in this case Loveen, the 97 year old Galway hooker, will embark on a journey of her lifetime! Along with 40 Galway Sea Scouts, their leaders and families she will travel via road and ferry to represent Irish traditional nautical heritage at NaWaKa, the Scout International National Water Kamp that's held every 4 years in the Netherlands with over 7,000 participants from all over the world.

High quality field for 2021 Cong to Galway sailing race

After a tremendous race last year, despite challenging conditions both on and off the water, another hugely competitive fleet has been assembled for this year’s Cong to Galway sailing race. The historic race from Lisloughrey in the shadow of Ashford Castle to the heart of Galway City has been attracting the cream of sailing talent in the West since 1882. This year’s iteration of the unique and historic event - the oldest and longest inland sailing race in Europe - will take place on Saturday, June 26.
