Galway’s winter cultural calendar is set for a major highlight this January as Music for Galway announces details of its much-anticipated Midwinter Festival 2026, titled The Quartet Extends. Running from Friday, January 23, until Sunday, January 25, at the Town Hall Theatre, the festival promises a rich celebration of chamber music, creativity and collaboration, and, in the words of its organisers, “total indulgence”.

MONDAY APRIL 15 will be a red letter day for Galway’s classical music aficionados as it sees the debut of the city’s new orchestra, Luminosa, at Galway Cathedral. The debut concert programme, Maestra, will feature works by female composers ranging from the 12th century Hildegard of Bingen to Galway’s own Jane O’Leary.

THE GALWAY Music Residency continues its monthly lunchtime concerts with shows by the brilliant ConTempo Quartet at the Galway City Museum on Tuesday October 6 at 1.10pm.
