A design team has been appointed for the construction of a new €25-million STEM building at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT), a local Fine Gael TD has revealed.
More than 60 hotel and tourism employers from around Ireland, the US, and Europe will take part in GMIT’s Galway International Hotel School annual careers fair, which takes place in the Dublin Road campus on Wednesday March 7.
The €24 million investment in the new STEM building for GMIT is “a great boost for Galway” and the economy of the west, as well as for third level education in Connacht-Ulster, according to a Galway TD.
A go-kart demonstration, featuring electric cars built from scratch by third year mechanical and energy engineering students in GMIT, will be among the highlights at the institute’s open morning, taking place this Saturday from 10am to 12.30pm.
