The awards recognise the extraordinary and often un-sung contributions of people across Ireland to make roads safer. The closing date for entries is Friday September 16 and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Farmleigh House on Wednesday October 12. As Hallowe’en festivities kick off in Athlone this weekend with a three-day Hallowe’en festival running from Friday to Sunday, local Gardai have issued an appeal to the public to ensure the weekend’s festivities are carried out in a safe and secure manner.
Athlone Fire Brigade is appealing to members of the public for their assistance in ensuring Hallowe’en goes by without any serious injury or avoidable emergency call-outs.
