The Cats’ run of bad luck continued over the weekend as they suffered a very disappointing defeat to Dublin in the Allianz Hurling League final on Sunday last. This was Dublin’s first league title since 1939 and well deserved as they gave an excellent display at Croke Park.

Double dose of Dubs for Cats

It's a double dose of Dublin hurling teams in a four-day spell for Kilkenny, as the seniors’ first step on the ladder to a potential historic five-in-a-row of All-Irelands begins this Sunday with a Leinster SHC semi-final date at Croke Park (2pm). Michael Walsh's under 21 charges have home advantage on Wednesday night against the Metropolitans at Nowlan Park (7.30pm).

Cats run out deserving winners in intermediate final

Kilkenny intermediates ran out deserving winners in their Leinster final against Dublin at Nowlan Park on Saturday. Michael Grace who came on as a sub scored 6 super points from play to help his side to victory. It was tit for tat throughout with the game resulting in extra time. However, Kilkenny’s strength and stamina proved to be the real difference as the clock ticked down in added time. Well-taken points from Michael Grace, Patrick Hogan and Niall Walsh all added to the difference. The Dubs kept the pressure on until the final whistle but the Cats held on to record a deserved victory. They will now face Galway in the semi-final in Tullamore this Saturday.

Comerford leads the way as Cats land title number 66

Kilkenny's winning margin against Wexford in the last two finals was an average of 17 points. A landslide victory I think is what you could call them. So with just two goals between the teams last Sunday it could be considered something of a close shave, but in truth despite the game effort from the Dubs the Cats were never going to lose this one.
