On Sunday night, the curtain fell on Galway International Arts Festival 2023 (GIAF), bringing to a close 14 days and nights of extraordinary arts experiences. The programme, which ranged from Druids to Dragons and Artists to Acrobats, drew record attendances of over 400,000 for the first time.

Galway International Arts Festival broke the quarter of a million attendance figure for the first time in its 41-year history, with 252,748 attendances at more than 200 events across the festival's 14 days.

Half-way through the first week of the 41st Galway International Arts Festival and the organisers are predicting that attendances are expected to break the 200,000 mark, with events running to July 29.

THE GALWAY International Arts Festival was officially launched at the Galmont Hotel on Tuesday evening amid a wave of great music and good vibes. This is the festival’s 41st year and, if that makes it middle-aged, it still exudes enviable levels of energy and imagination.

Over 14 days, the city can look forward to more than 200 events, across 32 venues, and involving more than 600 artists and performers, in what is to date, the largest Galway International Arts Festival ever staged.

EACH JULY Galway International Arts Festival presents a diverse and quality range of work from Irish and international artists. The visual arts programme is entirely free and attracts thousands of visitors across the 14 days of the festival.

Galway International Arts Festival has opened the doors of its box office in the Galway Tourist Office on Forster Street, where the public can book tickets in person and by phone for the festival, which runs from July 16 to 29.
