DAMIEN RICE will play the Galway International Arts Festival Big Top on Thursday July 16. The concert, which will take place in the Fisheries Field, will be the singer-songwriter’s arts festival debut.
Rising star, petite and quirky Vyvienne Long first achieved celebrity as a cellist in collaboration with singer-songwriter Damien Rice, producing the soaring melodies and distinctive sound associated with his albums O and 9. International tours followed during which she instantly charmed fans with her unique cello song and quirky take on the White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’. She soon began writing her own vocal material and formed a core band which typically includes three cellos, piano, drums and bass. Vyvienne released her EP Birdtalk in 06.
Vyvienne Long and special guests will perform at The Parade Tower on Friday, February 5 next. The cello queen has a huge Kilkenny following and tickets are expected to be sought after. She will be supported by guitarist John Lambert.
