Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, a man known in every household as the voice of GAA and admired for his renowned ability to retain the most miniscule and abstract detail relating to imreoirí and bainisteoirí alike, arrived in Caisleán an Bharraigh last week to launch the Irish language scheme Oscail an Doras.

Opening the door to Irish speakers in Castlebar

Gnó Mhaigh Eo, in association with Conradh na Gaeilge, is launching a scheme in Caisleán an Bharraigh this summer that will see businesses in the town offer its services ‘as Gaeilge’ to those who wish to use their cúpla focal on a regular basis. The scheme is being launched following the great success of its implementation in Claremorris, with Ballina and Westport earmarked to introduce the scheme in the near future.

New appointments to the board of Gnó Mhaigh Eo

The board of Gnó Mhaigh Eo has appointed four new board members in recent months.  Earlier this year, Colleen McMahon of Rua, Castlebar, and Caroline Price of Oileán Éadaigh – West Mayo Brewery, joined the board of directors, bringing with them their knowledge and first-hand experience of working in business in Mayo. Rua was the recipient of Gnó Mhaigh Eo’s Gradam Gnó – Business with Irish Award last year, and West Mayo Brewery was one of the other companies on the shortlist for the award.
