A new group on Facebook has been set up to call the new stand in McHale Park after the late Anthony McHugh. The page, which was set up during the week, has more than 450 members so far and was started following a discussion on the popular Castlebar website www.castlebar.ie, where posters called for the stand to be named after him.

Special event in Belmullet

A special evening of music and entertainment in support of the Special Olympic athletes from Erris is taking place in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel, Belmullet on Friday June 11. This event is also being held as a tribute to the legendary singer and musician Tex O’Malley, a native of Carne, Belmullet, who passed away in 2008.
