Westmeath County Council is to sponsor a composer in residence programme for Moate Community School, to build on the achievements of the school’s choir in winning the recent All-Island School Choir competition.

Music lovers are in for a treat on Saturday, May 18 at 8pm in the Ballina Arts Centre when the Ballina Chamber Choir hosts an evening of excellent choral music. The choir delivers songs from all eras with a tenderness that melts away the centuries. They are united by their love of choral music and by a desire to perform it at the highest possible level. Their repertoire is varied and spans the genres of classical, sacred, jazz and blues.

Marine Institute singing group strike winning note at Choirfactor Competition

The Marine Institute Singers were singing on high after emerging victorious in the inaugural Galway Choirfactor Competition which took place in the Radisson Blu Hotel on Friday April 12. Organised by the Corrib Lions Club as a fundraising initiative for Kilcuan Retreat Centre in Clarinbridge, the event attracted a capacity audience of more than 700 people.
