In May, 1924, Galway County Council resolved, ‘… the adoption of the Carnegie Rural Libraries Scheme in County Galway, and we, the members, undertake, individually and collectively, to press for the maintenance of the scheme of a County Library rate at the end of the two years during which it has been maintained by the Carnegie Trust’.

‘THE SIX MARYS’, written and narrated by Jean Farrell, with supporting actress/singer Catherine Gallagher, will be performed during Easter week, in Kiltoom Parish Hall, Ballybay, on Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13, at 8pm.

Written and presented by Jean Farrell, The Six Marys has been performed in theatres all over Ireland since its first appearance in Athlone three years ago. Many people have come to see it a second and even a third time!
