MEP Jim Higgins has issued a warning to people to be aware of carbon monoxide poisoning from barbecues.

Are you over 65 and living alone or with another person aged over 65? If so you could be entitled to external sensor lighting, internal emergency lighting, and monitored personal alarm which includes a monitored smoke detector and a monitored carbon monoxide detector.

Funding for Kilmaine Community Alert

Kilmaine Community Alert has just been awarded €3,185.70 of €123 million donated to 23 groups under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People. Announcing the news, Pat Carey TD, Minister at the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs, added that the scheme is now closed to applications and has been replaced by the new Seniors Alert Scheme.
