Mayo County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) are proposing an 80 kilometre per hour speed limit through Breaffy village. Over the past numbers of years, the issue of speeding motorists through Breaffy has been an ongoing concern for local residents.

Breaffy GAA Club has extended its commitment to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health with the announcement that Mindspace Mayo will now feature on the club's u14 jerseys. It is hoped that the campaign will raise awareness of youth mental health issues in Mayo. GAA clubs have the ability to educate the community on the power of positive mental health and to ensure people understand the importance of seeking help and understanding the services available to them.

Cardiac rehabilitation at The Breaffy Club

The Breaffy Club offers a wide variety of fitness classes ranging from spinning to swimming lessons with everything in between, one of the classes they are most proud of is their cardiac rehab class which takes place on Mondays at 12pm and Wednesdays at 11am and 12.30pm. This is a specialised class delivered by their instructor Emer O’Toole. To take part in this class you must be referred by your doctor or Cardiac rehab nurse.

The Breaffy Clubs Spinning Experience

I decided to sample the spinning experience in Breaffy Leisure Centre. Cathy Geraghty, leisure club manager, organised a session for me. I arrived for the 7.15 session on Thursday evening and was met by the fit looking and softly spoken Ray Kirrane. Ray explained that a spinning workoutis an excellent way to burn calories, build muscles, and relieve stress.

Mass to be held for missing Mayo man

Breaffy GAA Club will hold a special mass for support tomorrow evening, Wednesday, July 5 at 9.30pm for missing clubman David Gavin. David got into diffuculty swimming in the Candian provience of British Columbia on Friday afternoon last. Despite searches he has yet to be located. Members of his family travlled to Canada over the weekend.

Rescheduled Breaffy GAA Monster Auction this Saturday

The rescheduled Breaffy GAA Monster Auction will take place this coming Saturday in Breaffy GAA Clubhouse. The auction was due to take place on Saturday, May 27 but was postponed as a mark of respect after a tragic death in the club. The auction gets underway this Saturday at 6.30pm and the hundreds of items up for auction has a worth in excess of €30,000.
