Death of popular Castlebar Order of Malta officer

Castlebar was saddened during the week when the death was announced of popular Castlebar man John Cunningham, Breaffy Road, Castlebar. Mr Cunningham was a leading figure in the Order of Malta in the town for the past four decades and held the position of officer in charge as well as the captain of the Castlebar unit.

Mayo Senior Scór

GAA clubs all over Mayo are making a special effort this year to participate in the County Senior Scór finals as 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of Senior Scór back in 1969. The interest in the competitions means that four divisional finals are planned for Senior Scór on March 7 in Moygownagh, Breaffy, Hollymount, and Knock Hall.

Castlebar Chamber of Commerce have unveiled a plan which could put the idle IDA business park on the Breaffy Road to good use.

Rotary Club art sale and watercolour demonstration

TG4-contracted artist Harry Feeney will give a watercolour demonstration at an art sale in Breaffy House Hotel on December 4. The Castlebar Rotary art sale is run in conjunction with Mayo Cancer Support Association based at Rock Rose House. Over 30 artists will exhibit and sell their work on the night and proceeds will go to the chosen charity.
