Q: I am going for a middle management interview with the group business development manager. Mayo County Council is working its way through a review of the council's Derelict Sites Register since earlier this year and, according to council officials, the issue of derelict sites and getting them cleaned up and sorted is "coming back much more on the agenda".

Last week the elected members of the West Mayo Municipal District thought they had secured a victory in their battle against on street parking charges in the towns around the district, when all of the councillors backed a proposal that on street parking charges would be "taken off the agenda". However on Monday morning, when the Municipal District met to discuss their discretionary budget for the coming year the item was very much back on the agenda.

Olympic silver medallist Kenneth Egan will be one of the sports stars and managers lining out to speak on Achieving Success in Sport – What does it take? a free, public seminar taking place in Westport Town Hall on Wednesday, November 11 starting at 7:30 pm. Kenneth, or Kenny, will be joined by James Horan, former Mayo Senior Football Manager, Valerie Mulcahy, one of the country’s most decorated sportswomen having claimed nine All-Ireland titles with the Cork Ladies Football side and Tom Mohan current manager of the FAI U17 national team. A member of the Connacht Rugby Team is also expected to join the panel but his name has not been confirmed at time of going to print.

Ballinrobe Musical Society will be bringing Halloween early to town next year with its 2016 production The Addams Family. The hit Broadway show tells the story of the hilariously ghoulish American family with an affinity for all things macabre.
