He hopes that the recent successes experienced in the town with the success of the Carlton Shearwater Hotel, the initiation of construction on the new retail park with Tesco as anchor tenant, and the many other successes of the town will herald another prosperous phase in its development.

Cllr Ollie Moore has welcomed the action which Roscommon County Council has taken against the contractors Ward & Burke Ltd who were responsible for the laying of pipes for the new sewage scheme in the Creagh, Ballinasloe area.

Some 500 farmers hijacked the opening of the Athlone to Ballinasloe section of the M6 yesterday (Thursday) in a protest which was organised by the IFA.
