There was good news yesterday with the announcement that Coca-Cola plans to invest €26 million in its Ballina operation. The investment will see an additional 25 jobs created in the north Mayo facility over the next three years. The announcement was made by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny with Muhtar Kent, chairman and chief executive officer, The Coca-Cola Company.

Ballina town centre is set to rock on Saturday night week, August 27 when Irish rock legends The Stunning come to town as part of the inaugural French Mayo Festival.  The culmination of the two-day festival, billed as "A Taste of France Along the Wild Atlantic Way", the gig will see Steve and Joe Wall's band headline the first live music event to be held under the new state-of-the-art cover provided by Mayo County Council for Ballina's historic Military Quarter.

The free event will feature a host of VIPs and performers and runs from 6pm to 8pm.

Silent Moves has topped the poll to represent 2015 in Modern Ireland in 100 Artworks by The Irish Times. Silent Moves is a film by Aideen Barry, Western Care’s Ridgepool Training Centre, and Scannán Technologies, hosted by Ballina Arts Centre and made possible through the IGNITE programme, funded by the Arts Council, Arts & Disability Ireland, and Mayo County Council.

Ballina Arts Centre and the Jackie Clarke Museum will host a literary event of national importance on Thursday, August 4, to celebrate the work of Ballina-born Faber poet Dorothy Molloy.

Mayo County Council Arts Office, Library Service, and the Jackie Clarke Collection in Ballina are delighted to announce the official launch of the artistic outcomes of the Artist in Residence to commemorate 1916. The official launch will take place on Saturday May 7 at 3pm at Ballina Civic Offices Exhibition Space.
