Ballina Mayor launches unique sports coaching course for jobseekers

Thirteen jobseekers from the Ballina area are to undertake for two days a week, over 14 weeks, a specialised sports coaching course which it is hoped will provide them with the tools to obtain some part time employment. The Goal to Work programme will allow trainees to become fully qualified GAA, rugby, and soccer coaches with additional sports modules in child protection, first aid, disability awareness, and active leadership also been offered.

Getting Irish Business Online (www.gettingbusinessonline.ie) is a partnership between Google, Blacknight Internet Solutions, An Post and the County and City Enterprise Boards and is targeting the 40 per cent of Irish SMEs including sole traders that do not have a website or an online presence. The campaign is calling on all businesses that do not have a website to log on to www.gettingbusinessonline.ie where they can create their business website for free.

Lands could be de-zoned as new Regional Planning Guidelines come into effect

Landowners who have had land zoned for housing under the last County Development Plan or Town Environs plans could see their land dezoned in the very near future. The new Regional Planning Guidelines which came into effect last year have to be signed off and all relevant reports completed by October 18 this year. Senior Planner with Mayo County Council Ian Douglas gave a presentation on the tight time-scale that the council had to work with to ensure that all statutory obligations were complied with by the deadline, at the April meeting of the local authority this week.
