Galway Cathedral’s 33rd year of annual summer concerts begins on Thursday next, 2 July, and continues every Thursday at 8.00pm until 6 August. The series opens with young Australian organist Jonathan Lee, who will use both of the cathedral’s organs. His performance includes 19th-century German composer Julius Reubke’s dramatic, symphonic tone poem for organ, renowned as one of the greatest organ works of the Romantic period.

Olympic champion Aifric Keogh, Kenny’s Bookshop and Gallery director, author, and historian Tom Kenny, and World Food Program representative Mary-Ellen McGroarty are among the recipients of the 2022 University of Galway Alumni Awards. The winners, announced this week, will be presented with their awards at a gala banquet on Friday October 21.
