Over the past six years this event has become one of the biggest fundraisers for Childline with last year’s event raising more than €225,000 for the Childline service which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. Breakfasts big and small will take place around the country and Childline is encouraging everyone to host or attend a breakfast.

Childline celebrates Child Helpline International Day

The ISPCC’s Childline service, along with other child helplines across the globe, is marking the seventh annual International Child Helpline Day and celebrating the vital role of child helplines in listening to and supporting children. In marking this important day, the ISPCC has announced Childline’s annual statistics for 2012. The statistics clearly show the importance of Childline with almost 800,000 calls received in 2012.

Castlebar Childline answered over nine thousand calls

During 2009, more 9,000 calls were answered by the 25 volunteers and 11 trainees at the Childline office in Castlebar, which was only established in March of that year.
