One of Galway’s most enduring, most enjoyable, and most enjoyed institutions is the community based musical group, St Patrick’s Brass Band. The band was founded in Forster Street in 1896 and they have been entertaining Galwegians since.

Daily searches have continuing following the disapearance of Private Ben Garrett in the Galway last week. Private Garrett, who is originally from Castlebar, has now been missing for nine days. He was last seen leaving Carbon nightclub on Eglinton Street in in the early hours of last Thursday morning. At the time of going to print the searches were continuing.

Fianna Fáil will re-establish 4th Western Brigade in Athlone – Curran

Fianna Fáil has pledged to increase Defences Forces personnel and to restore a three-brigade structure. General Election candidate in Roscommon-Galway Shane Curran has secured a commitment in the party’s manifesto that €22m will be spent on increasing the force over the next five years and to restoring the 4th Western Brigade at Custume Barracks in Athlone.
