Coroner for south Mayo John O’Dwyer commented this week that patients in Mayo who have a heart attack may not have the best opportunity for survival given the short time frame they have to get to the cardiac unit at University Hospital Galway.

New HSE West ambulance base opening in Mulranny

The newly completed HSE West ambulance base located one mile west of Mulranny village will commence day operations next month according to Mulranny GP and former TD, Dr Jerry Cowley. Health Minister overrules HSE decision to stop patient transport

A decision by the National Ambulance Service to stop the provision of patient transport to dialysis and cancer patients within the western area has been over-ruled by the Minister for Health Dr James Reilly. The HSE has been accused of “acting in an independent way” and without Dr Reilly’s consent on this matter and there is now a question mark over how the service dealt with the situation.
