This weekend will be a busy one for the camogie inter-county teams as the seniors, intermediates and minor players are all in action. The Ragg stages a double header on Saturday afternoon as the seniors and intermediates are both away to Tipperary.

There were only two parties rubbing their hands with pleasure after last weekend’s strange round of league action. Those were the Tipperary management team and the GAA authorities. Tipperary sent out a statement of intent with an emphatic victory over Galway at Salthill. As for the GAA they will be delighted that at least four teams are still in the hunt for a league final spot when the last round is played in a fortnight’s time.

Nowlan Park is the setting next Sunday afternoon, when the Irish Daily Star National Camogie league semi-finals take place. Kilkenny are first in the arena at 2pm against Galway, followed at 3.45pm by Tipperary’s clash with defending League/All-Ireland champions Wexford.

The authorities in the GAA will be rubbing their hands in delight after last week’s National Hurling League results. The outcome of these games have seen the league table tighten up to such an extent that after four rounds of action there are still six teams left in the hunt for honours. The only two teams out of the equation are Wexford and Offaly, it now looks certain that one of these will drop back to Division 2.

This year’s Gala All Ireland Senior Semi-finals take place as a double header at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny August 14.

Camogie fans are set for a triple delight following the announcement at the launch of the Gala All-Ireland Camogie Championships that the Intermediate camogie final will be played with the Senior and Premier Junior finals for the first time in GAA headquarters this year.

The Kilkenny Camogie team got one over on their male counterparts already this year by quietly slipping into another league final. They seemed to come back from a no win situation last Saturday in Tullamore.
