On Tuesday evening May 12 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm there will be a ladies’ soccer tournament at the astro turf pitch in Claremorris. This is a fun event which is being hosted by the Mayo Sports Partnership, Community and Enterprise, FAI, and the Family Resource Centre Claremorris.

Last year the Mayo Walking Partnership in association with Mayo Sports Partnership facilitated an initiative to promote walking as an enjoyable way towards a healthy and active lifestyle. Based on last year’s success they will once again be promoting walking during the month of June called Mayo in Motion Walking Month.

A new swimming lesson course for children with a disability will start on Wednesday May 6 in Westport Leisure Park at 5.15pm to 6pm. The eight week course costs €50. Construction may be on a slow-down throughout the country, but the Chernobyl Children’s Project Westport Outreach Group is about to start building a very special house in central Westport. Constructed from the hundreds of bricks designed by the town’s children, it will be housed in the new premises — just off Mill Street, to the right of the Mill Street car park entrance — all designed for the Chernobyl Groups Bricks 4 Hope campaign.
