Canadian rocker Bryan Adams, who wowed audiences at this year’s Westport Festival, is coming back to Mayo and will be taking to the stage in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar next month. Bryan Adams will be bringing his Bare Bones acoustic tour to the stage in Castlebar on Tuesday September 16. Tickets priced at €49.50 including booking fee will go on sale this Monday, August 18, at 9am from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide and on www.ticketmaster.ie.

Tunes and pints to celebrate the end of summer (nearly!) The Time Machine presents... Surf Mayo End of Summer Party in Blousers, James Street, Westport, on Friday night, August 23.

DJs Jo Doran (Time Machine) and Dave Barry (Shuffle! Galway) have travelled through time to bring you fantastic recorded music to dance to. Whatever the genre, there is no barrier, but there will be dancing to Northern soul, '60s garage punk, ska, dirty blues, jazz, R&B, new wave, disco, funk, Afrobeat, rock 'n' roll... and whatever takes the duo’s fancy. Admission is €5 on the door free to Surf Mayo crew.

The National Singing Championships comes to Mayo and more importantly it is coming exclusively to Flynn’s Bar, Castlebar. The heats for this singing contest begin on Saturday, August 23 and are open to singer/musicians, two piece and three piece bands.

The contest also caters for singers who wish to sing karaoke style with a backing track. The contest is open to everyone over 18 years old, and all budding singers can register by texting, ‘register me for Flynn’s’ along with their name and mobile phone number to 087 7724453 or by calling into the bar before any of the heats. The competition will run for four weeks in total, with three weeks of heats and a grand final. Each week of the heats, five acts will qualify for the final in Flynn’s Bar on Saturday, September 13.
