Songs for The Deaf are one of Ireland’s best tribute bands, and Ireland's only group paying tribute to one of America’s best rock bands Queens of the Stone Age, and they are coming to play the Garbo’s venue this Saturday night December 19 just in time for Christmas.
The band have played a number of well known venues around Ireland over the last few months and they will play a very special show at Garbo’s in Castlebar just days before Christmas. Queens of the Stone Age (QOTSA) are an American rock band from Palm Desert, California, formed by Josh Homme in 1996 after the breakup of Kyuss in 1995. Frequent touring for their second album Rated R generated fans all over the world for the band. Interest in the group grew even more when Foo Fighters' frontman and former Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl, joined in late 2001/early 2002 to record their third album, Songs for the Deaf which was released in August 2002. Support on the night comes from local grunge tribute act Still Alive. Still Alive formed earlier this year with local members Kenny McGreal, Shane Cunningham, Oliver Cunningham, Adrian Ryan, Aidan Bolger, and Damien McHale.
