French-Canadian group Le Vent du Nord will perform at the Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, on May 9.
Le Vent du Nord have blazed a trail across the globe with their gritty, modern, twist on French-Canadian roots music. Whether performing a repertoire of Québec traditional folk and original material or sharing a stage with the likes of The Chieftains, Breton musical pioneer Yann-Fañch Kemener, or Scottish folk band Breabach, Le Vent du Nord always put on a show to remember.

Birds Euroshow Funfair returns for its annual visit to the Military Barracks in Castlebar on Thursday April 28. The funfair will be held in association with Castlebar Boxing Club.
The boxing club has promoted funfairs and carnivals in Castlebar since the 1970s when it was used as a way of raising funds to purchase and refurbish its building on the Mall. The historic building was formerly Lord Lucan’s rent house and later a Church of Ireland school.

Two gorgeous top family shows and a pair of family workshops take place at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar in April. Monkeyshine Theatre presents The Magic Bookshop on Saturday April 16 with performances at 11am, 12.15pm, 1.45pm and 3pm. Peter and John do their very best to make sure every book gets a new life and that none of the magic is lost. Step inside this unusual shop, swap a book and maybe even take a little of the magic home with you. Audiences are invited to bring gently used books to swap. Previous Monkeyshine productions have been described as “magical”, “delightful” and “a treat for all ages”. The show is suitable for five-year-olds and their families, with a duration 30 minutes.
