The Latin Quarter Galway has announced details of Guinness Live, a new music festival for Galway. It will take place from Thursday September 22 until Sunday September 25, and will feature an extensive line-up of national and local acts in a series of intimate gigs in venues and pubs throughout the city’s Latin Quarter, with 50 live performances over four nights. Admission to all gigs is free and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Guinness Live is a four day festival, which incorporates Arthur’s Day and the Oyster Festival and looks set to be a great weekend for the city of Galway with some of the finest original talent in Ireland ranging from high profile acts such as Republic of Loose, Duke Special, Whipping Boy, Jerry Fish, Tucan, and Noelie McDonnell to some of the most exciting new sounds around including The Riptide Movement, The Original Rudeboys, The Debutantes, and The Temporary. The event features many of Galway’s finest bands playing a wide range of popular, rock, and traditional music.

The tour sees Glen supported by his two daughters and his son’s band, performing many of his greatest hits that include ‘Gentle on My Mind’, ‘By the Time I Get to Phoenix’, ‘Wichita Lineman’, ‘Galveston’, ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’, and ‘Southern Nights’.

The Erris branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Craobh Chlann Lir, is holding Féile an Fhomhair, a weekend of traditional music, featuring sessions, workshops and a concert.
The weekend takes place from Friday September 23 to Sunday September 25, at various locations around the town. The Erris branch is delighted that such names as Rosie Stewart, John McHugh, Tommy Doherty John Butler, Míchéal O Dubhain, and Colm O’Donnell are attending, for both the workshops on the Saturday and for the concert that evening. Craobh Chlann Lir was founded in 2008 and, since that time, the branch has endeavoured to promote traditional Irish music in the Erris area. Friday September 30 sees the Ballinrobe Musical Society in association with Mid West Radio take to the stage at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, for one night only to present Anthems - a collection of some of the most famous musical numbers of all time. Some familiar faces such as Seán Costello, Sandra Schalks, Michael Coen, and Daithí Ryder will be accompanied onstage by a chorus of 100 past and present members of the society. Together they will be presenting key songs from shows such as Ragtime: The Musical, Titanic, The Pirate Queen, and Les Misérables. Now, for the first time ever, the society will present highlights from these epic productions together with many more in a concert performance. Tickets are on sale now for €20 and include entrance to the after party in the Royal Theatre.
