Mayo sings in May with the International Choral Festival

This exciting inaugural festival will take the form of more than 30 male and female international, national, and Mayo choirs participating on a competitive and non-competitive basis from Thursday May 24 to Sunday May 27 across the county. The event will include a number of evening and daily countywide performances, as well as competitions and workshops. For visitors friendship, relaxation, and a memorable Mayo experience is the theme of the festival, allowing choirs to meet other choirs, relax, and enjoy a great weekend in the beautiful west of Ireland.

Blaze Bayley is ready to rock Castlebar tomorrow night

Former Iron Maiden and Wolfsbane front-man Blaze Bayley and his band will be making their way to Castlebar tomorrow night May 12 where they will be performing at Castlebar’s new independent music venue The Clubhouse. Blaze Bayley started his musical career as the lead vocalist of Wolfsbane. When Bruce Dickinson departed heavy metal band Iron Maiden in 1993, Blaze Bayley was chosen as his replacement. Following Blaze Bayley's departure from Iron Maiden, he formed his own band, Blaze. In 2000 the band released their debut studio album Silicon Messiah. The album was followed up by Tenth Dimension and the band's first live album, As live as it gets. Tomorrow night he will be coming to The Clubhouse, Castlebar, on his The Kings of Metal tour.

From the Wimbledon finals to the hangman’s noose, this is the terrible and true(-ish!) tale of Irish sporting legend Vere St Ledger Goold and his mercenary wife Marie Violet Giordin - an extraordinary globetrotting journey from the heady heights of sporting stardom to complete catastrophe. CheeryWild have starched their whites, re-stretched their racquets and are ready to serve a virtuoso volley of Victorian melodrama. Love All delivers an hilarious, rapid-fire, homicidal train ride from passion to pandemonium. Anyone for tennis?
