O’Donnellan & Joyce auctioneers had a wonderful day in the auction room for its Wild Atlantic Way winter auction on Friday, November 10, with more than 40 properties going under the hammer. Properties sold all along the Wild Atlantic Way including Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Galway, Mayo, Clare, and Limerick. There was a superb mix of residential and commercial properties, and also land, up for grabs on the day. Every property performed exceptionally on the day, reaching its reserve or over.

The auction team at O’Donnellan & Joyce are busy with final viewings and enquiries for their list of more than 50 properties for sale in the Wild Atlantic Way winter auction tomorrow, November 10. The auction will commence at 2pm sharp in The Harbour Hotel, New Dock Road, Galway, with registration open from 1pm.

In 1962, the Sisters of Jesus and Mary decided to set up a special class in their national school, Scoil Íde, in Árd na Mara. This class was known as ‘secondary tops’ and was designed to move the girls into secondary level. On September 1, 1965, the nuns opened a new secondary school in a house named ‘Salerno’ on Revagh Road, Rockbarton. They had 65 pupils. The school grew in popularity, the population increased, and there was no room for expansion, so the nuns found a new site on Threadneedle Road and moved into a brand new building there in 1981.
