A night of dancing and fundraising planned for local GAA clubs

St Josephs Football Club and Bealnamulla Ladies Football Club have come up with a fun way to raise valuable funding for their clubs. Strictly Fun Dancing was launched this week - where 14 couples from across Athlone are currently being put through their paces for 10 weeks of gruelling dance lessons of modern ballroom and Latin American dance. Each couple will dance the modern ballroom quickstep, foxtrot, and a jive, taught by professional teacher Lukas Mierzwa to hopefully make a great night’s entertainment for all and a fundraising success.

Former celebrity guest speakers at the ball include An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, sports commentator Micheál O’Muircheartaigh and Mary Davis of the Special Olympics. The Candlelight Ball is a solid fixture in the Castlebar social calendar.
