Sense of Place, a curated exhibition presented in association with Ballinglen Arts Foundation, opens on Friday week, October 5. The Linenhall Arts Centre’s annual visual art exhibition for children features the work of artists working in media including paint, photography and sculpture. The show has been curated by the Linenhall’s community arts team, from the collection at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation. Over several visits, artists Breda Burns, Marian McHale, Jodi Coyne, and Rachel McDonnell, assisted by Patricia Halligan, selected a series of works to capture the imagination of younger viewers and offer them the opportunity to explore the theme in depth. “The Ten Cross Painters” is the title of an inaugural exhibition of paintings in Cong Art Gallery. The exhibition which runs from Saturday June 16 until Saturday June 30, and the official opening will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday June 16 in the gallery. The Ten Cross Painters is the name of a group that meets in John Dinan’s studio in Cross once a month. “To learn and continue learning, and each fulfil a lifetime dream of becoming skilled, imaginative artists, enjoying every moment while striving to work at their full potential,” according to Dinan. Two of the artists are Mayo residents, Noelle Angley from Westport and Louise Conroy form Cong. Cong Art Gallery opens from 11am to 5pm every day during the exhibition including Sundays.
