Westport Gran Fondo is the latest cycle challenge to hit the headlines for the picturesque town in Mayo. This one day cycling event is the first of its kind in the Republic of Ireland and Westport Gran Fondo aims to become one of the largest cycle events in the country, mixing people's love of cycling with the amazing social aspect of the beautiful town of Westport. Michelle said that despite playing sports for years she had always struggled with her weight. Cycling home from work in Galway city to Moycullen on Tuesday evening, the same car passed me three times in the ongoing traffic jam that has existed at the edge of the Connemara village for the past nine months.

An air of excitement and anticipation is gathering in many households as teams and individuals from Mayo Community Games put their final preparations together for the forthcoming Community Games National Festival of Finals which take place in Athlone IT, over the next two weekends. This festival will host some 9,000 participants and the green and red of Mayo Community Games will be strongly represented with 286  competitors making the journey east to Athlone.
