Budo Martial Arts students grade successfully

Over 50 students from the Budo Martial Arts Centre in Kilkenny graded successfully at a recent event in the Watershed Sports Complex.

•Salthill Devon are preparing for the new season, and as part of their build up the club will play their first pre-season friendly on Satyurday (3pm) with the EA Sports Cup and FAI Ford Cup 2010 champions Sligo Rovers Football Club. The match will be played at Drom and the FAI Senior Cup will be on display. Entry to the match is free.

Kilkenny karate students successfully pass test

Members of the Budo JKA Karate Club, Kilkenny, were put through their paces last Sunday as chief instructor for JKA Ireland, sensei Noel Casey was on hand to test 31 members of the club for their respective grades.

Kilkenny’s, Sensei Kevin Shortall (pictured on the right) and his student Thomas Walsh (pictured on the left) have been selected as part of the JKA Ireland Karate Squad for the upcoming European JKA Karate Championships which will be held in Maastricht, Holland on April 4.

Kilkenny JKA Karate Club held its first Autumn Club Championships recently. The competition which was open to all senior members of the JKA Kilkenny group proved a huge success with lots of high quality matches.

Kickboxing action

Galway Black Dragon kickboxer Sean Cumiskey, who is the current IKF All Ireland and five Nations Full Contact Kickboxing Champion, will jet out to Minnesota, USA this weekend with his coach Pete Foley to challenge for the vacant IKF world lightweight title.
