IT IS amazing to think of the wealth of musical talent that has come out of Tuam over the past 30 years from Blaze X, to The Saw Doctors, to The Ralphs.

A company specialising in the production of organic salmon feed is set to create up to 30 jobs at its new plant in Tuam.

Disconnect 4, the excellent Galway new wave band, has been chosen as a finalist from hundreds of bands across Ireland to take part in the Tiger Untamed band competition.

•The first annual general meeting of the Galway Hurling Supporters Club will be held next Thursday (February 25) at the Lough Rea Hotel, Loughrea, Co Galway at 8pm. The club, which was set up last year, already boasts more than 600 members, and chairman Eamon Bradshaw is hoping this will increase to more than 2,000 this year. Bradshaw is calling on everyone interested in hurling to attend the AGM where officers will outline its activities during 2009, financial support for the Galway hurling reams, members aspirations for 2010, planned events during 2010, and benefits for members. The club has its own website, www.ghsc.ie, which has attracted hits from all over the world.

A total of €50,000 for flood mitigation and prevention measures in Gortbeg, Cahergal, Tuam, has been allocated by the Office of Public Works.
