The first ever river-based triathlon in Kilkenny took place on Saturday last in Kilkenny city. Early on Saturday morning, over 500 triathletes of all ages and abilities set off on the taxback.com sponsored event which began with a bracing swim in the River Nore.

•Knocknacarra FC pre-season training commenced this week for all adult (junior) teams on Tuesday and also today (Thursday) in Cappagh Park at 7pm. The club hopes to enter three adult teams in the Galway & District League for the forthcoming season. Registration for all underage teams takes place at the clubhouse in Cappagh park tomorrow (Friday) from 7pm to 9pm and Saturday from 1pm to 3pm .
