Independent councillor Michael Kilcoyne raised the issue of the business still operating as a takeaway outside the hours permitted in its planning permission. Town Engineer Sean Higgins informed the meeting that he had attended the area outside of his normal working hours to see if it was breaking the terms of its planning permission and was awaiting CCTV footage from the gardaí so he could move ahead with proceedings.

Ballina town councillor Johnny O’Malley has asked for the town council to look into putting an amendment on the new social housing allocation scheme to stop people with antisocial behaviour orders being eligible for housing supplied by the council in the future.

Questions raised by Kelly over funding to Ballina Chamber

Independent Ballina town councillor Mary Kelly raised a number of questions over the allocation of €20,000 worth of funding from the council’s coffers towards Ballina Chamber of Commerce for 2011. Cllr Kelly asked what the council would get for the large allocation of funding towards the Chamber and what influence the council would have on where the money was being spent.
