An evening with Julian Lloyd Webber

Cellist Julian Lloyd Webber’s 60th birthday gala at London’s Royal Festival Hall earlier this year was, in his words, a celebration of the “beautiful, temperamental instrument” that dominates his life. Now Julian brings the instrument - the Barjansky Stradivarius cello, dated 1690 - which famously gets its own seat on airplanes - on his Irish tour, Travels With My Cello: An Evening with Julian Lloyd Webber. The tour begins at the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on Wednesday, November 2, at 8pm.

John Feeley to perform free lunchtime concert

THE GALWAY Music Residency will present Irish guitarist John Feeley at its next lunchtime concert on Tuesday in the Town Hall Theatre. Feeley will be performing a selection of works by J S Bach; Adagio and Fugue from Violin Sonata No 1 in G minor (BWV 1001), Cello Suite No 1 in G major (BWV 1007), and Chaconne in D minor from Partita no 2, (BWV 1004). He will preface the performance with a short talk about the music.
