This year there are three different routes in three different distances – 50k, 110k, and 175k. That is something to suit everyone in the friendliest cycling event in the west, which will once again be led by its patron, Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

Mayo pinks up and raises €2,658 at Centra Pink Umbrella Walk

The people of Mayo have been congratulated for successfully pinking up their county with the Centra Pink Umbrella Walk. The events, which took place across the county at the end of October, have been hailed a great achievement after local people turned out in great numbers to participate in the walk. As crowds of local people took steps to raise funds and awareness for the Irish Cancer Society’s Get the Girls campaign, the county was taken over by Centra’s fabulous pink umbrellas.

This year, much to the delight of bike owners everywhere, participants will have a choice of not one but three cycle routes! While the traditional 100km route is very popular and is expected to draw the greatest interest, other options have now been added. For those who really want to cycle but are daunted by the challenge, the new 50km route should appeal, while for the whizz kids and the more seasoned cyclists among us 160km will be a fine test of stamina.
