Farewell to 2016 – and welcome 2017

I hope you have survived Christmas. As I write this, it is December 28, so life is beginning to come back to normal, trains and buses are running, shops are open, people are reading newspapers, and the madness is over. Except, of course, for children, who are having an absolutely wonderful time.

The Campo Viejo Tapas Trail has just finished its second run in Galway, it gave just the opportunity to be a tourist in your own home. The passion, generosity, and vibrancy of Spain came to the streets of Galway from August 24 to September 7, taking place twice a week, on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 9pm and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 5pm.

Tributes have been paid to Galway Racecourse chairman and former auctioneer Terry Cunningham who passed away suddenly on Monday evening. The 71-year-old was extremely well-known in the city due to his auctioneering business and work on the race committee, of which he had been a member since 1990.
