ANTONIN ARTAUD, the French playwright and theatre director visited Galway city and the Aran Islands in 1937 and an event is taking place to mark his visit.

Eight years ago in May 2005, I was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Flora Lucida, a beautiful exhibition of glass sculptures by Mayo artist Emma Bourke, is currently on show at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar. Emma’s artistic practice is inspired by the natural environment in the west of Ireland, and the wild flowers and plants that populate the countryside. Captivated by these enchanting plants, she creates collections of these wild flowers out of glass, eternally capturing their beauty.
