Mayo Super Cup up for grabs tonight

The final of this competition which has been running over the last two months takes place this Friday July 9 in Cosgrave’s Bar (Tony Flynn’s) Spencer Street, Castlebar. The Super Cup saw every team that reached at least the semi-final of their district league enter the competition. The Shebeen from Westport have reached the final throwing excellent darts and had good wins over Rocky’s, Knockmore, and Mixie McGuire’s from Belmullet. They are definitely the form team and will be hard to beat.

Still all to play for in club championships

The club scene in Mayo will take a backwards step this weekend with the Michael Walsh league rolling around for a round of fixtures. After a hectic few weeks of both inter county and club championship fixtures the Michael Walsh league will bring respite for a number of players and offer club managers a chance to run the rule over some of their fringe players.

Do or die for a lot of clubs this weekend

A week after one of the lowest ever ebbs of Mayo football, it’s back to home turf for all the players involved when the second round of the Royal Theatre football championships throws in this weekend across all three grades. The senior championship is where most eyes will be, last weekend the last round one game was played when Aghamore were able to pick up a win against Moy Davitts. In section one John Maughan’s Crossmolina will be hot favourites to see off Claremorris. The south Mayo men were given a hammering by Garrymore in the last round, and while Crossmolina were made sweat against Ballintubber in the last round they should have more than enough to win this one.
