Galway Science and Technology Festival broke all previous attendance records on Sunday for the much-anticipated return of the Festival Exhibition, hosted by the University of Galway and spread right throughout the campus.

The Marine Institute, alongside the Explorers Education Programme, will be showcasing marine science at the 2022 Galway Science and Technology Festival this weekend. Families are invited to the Bailey Allen Hall at the University of Galway on Sunday the 13th November 2022, to learn more about Ireland’s marine research vessels and creatures of the deep sea.

The 38th annual Conamara Sea Week takes place in Letterfrack from October 22 to 31. This annual celebration of the wonderful marine and cultural heritage of Connemara has something for everyone with workshops, art, music, talks, walks, and more. This year’s festival will also focus on climate action and aims to engage and empower young people to become agents of positive change.

The Explorers Education Programme team at Galway Atlantaquaria have announced that Scoil Iosaif Naofa, Oranmore, and Scoil Sailearna, Inverin, are among the top schools in 14 coastal counties that have been selected to complete an Explorers Healthy Oceans project, and be in with a chance of winning a Marine Institute’s Explorers Ocean Champion Award for primary schools in Ireland.

STEPS Engineers Week takes place from next Saturday, March 5, and Galway Atlantaquaria and the Marine Institute will be supporting the event with a weekend of fun, facts, and competitions at Galway Atlantaquaria in Salthill on Saturday and Sunday.

The Marine Institute’s Explorers Education Programme and Educational Passages are said to be delighted that the 1.5 metre unmanned mini sailboat called ‘Seoltóir Na Gaillimhe – the Galway Sailor’, that was deployed by a Galway school in June, was recently found stranded on the Bunes Beach above the Arctic Circle in the Lofoten Islands, in Norway.
