Kilmacow is the venue for Leinster cross-country championships
The new athletic season gets under way on Sunday with the staging of the Leinster Junior and Senior cross-country championships in Kilmacow.
KCH girls enjoy a clean sweep at cross-country championships
Boys and girls gathered in great numbers for the even-ages Juvenile B cross-country championships at a sun-drenched Kilmacow course on Sunday. The hard-working members of host club, St Senan’s, marshalled a well laid out course and with Ed Williams on the whistle there was no letup from start to finish. Kilkenny City Harriers (KCH), winners of the A Championships last month were again out in force and were very much to the fore, particularly in the girls’ races. The Castlecomer club were strong in the boys’ races.
Dicksboro crowned Minor Hurling County champions
In front of 11 thousand supporters at sunny Nowlan Park on Sunday last Dicksboro were crowned Minor County champions. A very strong overall team performance secured this victory for Dicksboro who had worked tirelessly to ensure their win. This is their second win in a row at this grade and is the culmination of all the fantastic work being done by the club and the mentors who have brought these young hurlers to this stage.

Age Friendly Consultative Meeting
Over 30 people gathered in the Community Centre in Kilmacow last Wednesday afternoon to participate in the round of consultative meetings being held as part the Kilkenny Age Friendly Initiative. Kilkenny intends to become the second ‘Age Friendly’ county in the country after this programme was piloted in Louth.
Presentation to hospice group
Kilmacow Hospice Support Group would like to acknowledge receipt of €3,790 from the ninth running of the Little South Run which was organised by St Senan’s Athletics Club.
